Several years ago I bought a used truck camper intending to fix it up and make it usable. I brought it home on a trailer and started taking off the siding to see haw bad the damage was. I found that it had far more water damage than I had hoped. Not to be undone I took all of the siding off and started the rebuild. As I was working the wind came up and twisted the Frame that was still standing and all of the attached siding into a totally unusable mess. I put down my tools and stormed into the house and sat on my couch.
Later I went back out and cleaned up the mess and threw away all of the busted woodwork and twisted metal. I ended up with just the appliances from the old camper. All I had left was a couple of busted lights, Some windows, the back door, the furnace, the sink, and the cooktop.
So I started from scratch, from the ground up and started to rebuild a camper. I built an 8 foot long full size slide in camper and coated it with aluminum siding. I build the whole camper outside covered in a tarp. As I built a section I would uncover it, and build that section.Pretty soon I had the shell of the camper built and covered in plywood. Then I put in the wiring, the furnace, the cooktop, and the water tank and sink. Then I covered the whole outside of the camper in aluminum siding.
When I was building this camper I found some sheets of this beautiful paneling that was actually made from wood and was not that pressed cardboard stuff you see now.
It looked great.
I used some of the old windows and added a couple more from a used camper supply place that I found. They were very helpful and have everything to do with campers either new or used at their location outside of the city.
The next step was to put it on a truck. That was an adventure in itself.
